Just Kids Glad to be in Mustang

Just Kids Pediatrics opened its newest location, at 106 E. S.W. 59th St. in Mustang, this week, offering both primary care and urgent care. The Mustang Chamber of Commerce, State Labor Commissioner Leslie Osborne and State Sen. Paul Rosino welcomed the clinic at a ribbon-cutting Jan. 2. Jesse Smith, the CEO of the Just Kids, credited Rosino with persuading the company to choose Mustang for its fourth location.

“He wrestled us to the ground, saying that Mustang was underserved,” Smith said. Rosino said he felt strongly about the clinic’s fit in Mustang. “It’s where you have lots of young families and kids,” he said. As Just Kids explored Mustang as a site, it was struck by the sense of community, Smith said. “We will be very involved in the community,” he said. “We’re not in business without our community.”

Founders Dr. Angela Yaffe, a pediatrician, and Alex Yaffe, an attorney, founded Just Kids six years ago in a one-room clinic, Smith said. The Mustang clinic is a big advance from the first clinic.

It is using 4,000 square feet in a new building, and it has 1,000 square feet available for growth.

The clinic has its own X-ray and medical laboratory equipment. Dr. Kayla Washuta, the lead pediatrician, is certified in sports medicine. In addition to medical care, Just Kids offers counseling through a behavioral health specialist. The urgent care practice is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. “We’re here for everyone,” Smith said.
